Why do we use Sucralose instead of other sweeteners?

Sucralose is used as a sweetener due to its high impact sweetness factor. In GlycoLoad, we use very little as the natural flavor of our specialized carbohydrate can stand on its own. Sucralose allows us to use significantly less of this sweetener than other comparable sweeteners. Metabolic Nutrition also develops it own flavor system for its products so we were able to use even significantly less Sucralose than other companies and still derive a very “natural” taste characteristic. Based on this we use 1/1000 less sweetener than other comparable formulas. As compared to other natural sweeteners, such as Stevia, we would have had to use upwards of 10,000x the amount of Stevia to produce the same sweetness level and that would have come at a cost in terms of price of product (higher), bad or chemical off notes, and significant digestive issues.


Is there any additional sweetener in the unflavored GlycoLoad?

No, the specific structure of the cluster dextrin has an inherent “sweet” taste. But not all carbohydrates are created equal when it comes to taste, and thus our specific carbohydrate has been selected because of its inherent abilities in both performance and taste.
